The opening round of this 2010 US Open Golf Championship starts on Thursday, June 17, 2010 and ends on June 20th and is played at Pebble Beach, California. It is the 110th US Open Championship and this tournament of 2010 has a purse of $7,500,000.00. This will be the 5th occasion that Pebble Beach has hosted the event.
This event will be played on a golf course set up at 7,040 yards will play for a par of 35 on the front nine and 36 on the back nine for a total par per round of 71. The tournament is open to all professional and amateur golfers with a USGA Handicap Index that does not exceed 1.4. Entries for the Open close on April 28, 2010 with 9,052 persons enter which was second most in USGA history. The record number of entries was 9,086 in 2009. The local qualification matches were played at 111 golf courses and consisted of 18 holes played from May 7th -20th. Sectional qualifying matches consisted of 36 holes and were played at two international coursed on May 24th and 13 course in the USA from June 7th thru 8th. The Championship Field will start with 156 avid golfers and will be cut after 36 holes to the low 60 scorers (and ties) or any player within 10 strokes of the present leader.
