Everyone knows about the top talent and vicious battles that play out in the MLB betting matchup in the AL East. The AL East is so ridiculously talented that three of the top five teams in baseball likely play there and only two will make the post season despite terrific records.
But many people out east aren’t familiar with the great baseball odds action out West, the AL West that is, and the two top teams, the Texas Rangers and LA Angels have been engaged in some great baseball and AL East-like free agent sprees.
A handful of teams have been active thus far in the MLB betting free agency window but no teams have made bigger moves than the Rangers and Angels. The Rangers picked up the best pitcher available when the traded for starter Cliff Lee from the Mariners. The Angels quickly followed suit and grabbed an all star pitcher of their own when they traded for Dan Haren of the D-Backs.
With their baseball arsenals now locked and loaded these two teams have dug in a for battle as the AL West baseball odds competition heads down the home stretch with only one of the two teams getting a spot in the MLB betting playoff actions (AL East owns the wildcard).
The Angels will trot out their newly acquired pitching stud, Haren (7-9, 5.47) for just his second start in the AL. His first was cut short when he was nailed with a liner back to the mound, forcing him to miss his next start, but he’s been cleared to play on Saturday.
Haren’s numbers are deceiving and he gave up just 2 runs in 7 innings of work in his first start. By all indications he should be able to pitch in the AL and pitching for a winning ball club should also help boost this numbers.
The Rangers will put Tommy Hunter’s perfect record (8-0) to the test against the Angels. Hunter has been a revelation for the Rangers and finally gives them the third pitcher in the rotation they need to get into the playoffs. In ten starts this year he’s been as good as any pitcher in the Big Leagues with an ERA of 2.31, and averaging 6 ½ innings per start.
Hunter should run his record to 9-0 in this one and the Rangers will put even more distance between themselves and the Angels.
