The Los Angeles Angels (51-46) are accustomed to having their way in the AL West baseball betting action, especially after the All Star break. We’ve seen it happen almost every year over the past few MLB odds seasons: the Texas Rangers get off to early lead in the AL West standings but falter late and the Angels are always able to reel them in by August.
But this year it seems to be a different baseball betting scenario playing out and the Rangers (55-40), who true to form, jumped out to an early lead in the AL West MLB odds action don’t look like a team that’s going to falter down the stretch this season.
In fact, this team simply seems to be getting stronger the longer the baseball betting season goes on and with the new acquisition of pitcher Cliff Lee this team has its sights set not just on the MLB playoff betting action, but the World Series. With a 5.0 game lead over the rival Angels, and chance to widen that lead, Texas is in great position to make a run at its first AL West baseball betting title in years.
The Angels have lost 2 of the past 5 games against the Rangers but will have their secret weapon, ace Ervin Santana (8-7, 3.63 ERA) on the mound on Saturday to try and cut Texas down to size. But Santana has had a hard time of getting a win in the MLB odds action after losing his last three starts and going just 2-5 over his past 7 seven starts. He’s pitched reasonably well giving up just 6 runs in the past 24 innings but the Angel bats have been silent.
Texas has had no such problems and is quickly establishing itself as a legit World Series odds contender. The Rangers will start Scott Feldman (5-8, 5.48 ERA) who is by far the worst of the Texas starters and this should give the Angels at least a sliver of hope.
But the Rangers have a secret weapon of their own: ex-Angel slugger Vlad Guerrero. Vlad has gone nuts against his former team this year hitting home runs like they’re going out of style and basically destroying Angel pitching.
Look for the Rangers to increase their lead in the AL West baseball betting standings against the Angels.
