Last night a 17 year old boy did not expect what he got by going to this game and acting a little crazy. Today he is most like watching his video all over the internet either congratulating himself for making history or telling himself, “what was I thinking?!” Searches for terms like Phillies fan tasered, Phillies taser, philly fan tasered or Phillies fan gets tasered have been hot on the main search engines. Why? Because that is exactly what happened.
This boy apparently called his dad on his cell phone and asked for permission to jump into the field and once he got an approval from him, he did it. The teen just jumped in and started running in circles and all over the place. He was surrounded was surrounded by police and staff members of the stadium though. There was really nothing else he could do or no where he could go. Then, in a matter of seconds, the Phillies fan got tasered. There have been mixed emotions from the public in regards to this matter.
The police officer who decided to take the boy down with his taser is now being investigated for the improper use of the device. Many think that taking the situation to a higher level was really not necessary. The kid is 17. He is surrounded. He is happy to see his team. He is a fan! And now, he ended up being recognized as the Phillies fan gets tasered.
There is no history of an officer using a taser before to stop a running fan across a game field. This is the first time it happens; and some people who are watching this are shocked to see to what extent the officer took the matter. True, the dad should have never given him permission to do such a thing and the teen should have never even thought of jumping in the field. But it happened. And the police officer ‘s action where completely and totally unnecessary.
As a minor, the trespasser’s name will not go public, nevertheless, he is going to face charges related to criminal trespass and others. Watch the video as the Phillies fan gets tasered and be the judge as to how everything happened and if the police overreacted.
