It hasn’t’ been an easy in the baseball betting for the Boston Red Sox or its ace pitcher Josh Beckett. Beckett, one of the top pitchers in the AL over the past three MLB betting seasons has had a very rough 2010 on the mound.
Injuries, bad luck and less than par performances have made this year’s baseball betting season one to forget thus far. He’s started just 8 games this year and gotten just 2 decisions (1-1). However, there could easily be a bunch more losses on that win-loss record as he’s giving up 7.29 earned runs per 9 innings pitched so far in the MLB odds action.
But there’s still plenty of time left in the season and he’ll be returning to the mound for Friday’s game for the first time since May 18th. Reports from the Sox indicate that he’s pitched well in rehab and should be fresh to face a terrible Mariners team in the baseball betting action.
Boston (53-42) is currently locked in the fiercest battle in the MLB action for a spot in the baseball betting playoffs –and losing. The Sox are now 7.0 games behind the AL East leading Yankees (59-34) and 4.5 games behind second place Tampa (57-37). If this team is going to make a playoff push the time is now.
The Mariners are a terrific team for Beckett to make his return against, if you’re a Boston fan. Seattle (37-58) is among the worst team in the baseball odds action and by trading away ace Cliff Lee, the team has basically thrown in the towel on the season.
Jason Vargas (6-4, 2.97) has been one of the rare bright spots for this team and will get the start opposite Beckett. He should pitch well but it’s unlikely he’ll get any run support from a very weak Mariner lineup.
On the other hand, Boston’s banged up lineup should be charged up with the return of their ace and should be able to put a few runs on the board.
Even with the home field advantage the Mariners seemed destined to lose this baseball betting matchup.
