For what it’s worth to college football odds fans the two best teams in the state of West Virginia will square off this Friday Sep 10th the see who wins bragging rights for the next year. In West Virginia (the Best Virginia, according to myriad bumper stickers I’ve seen on I-95) football has been on the rise over the past decade and both the Marshall Thundering Herd and the West Virginia Mountaineers have been national football powers in their own right and gaining status in the Top 25 Polls.
Unfortunately this is not one of those years. Neither team is has high hopes entering this season as it looks to be a rebuilding year for both and this might just be one of the biggest games for both as they play for dominance of the Mountain State.
Kickoff for this Friday matchup is set for 7:05 Eastern Time and sbg sportsbook opened with the Mountaineers as a 13-point favorite with an over/under total at 46 1/2.
West Virginia is undoubtedly the better team in his NCAA football betting matchup and should win accordingly. The Big East member has never lost a game to Marshall and isn’t likely to start this week. Led by RB Noel Devine this defense has a ton of speed on the perimeter and plenty of big play potential. Devine had a sub-par game against the Eastern Carolina Pirates last week despite racking up 111 yards rushing. Expect him to play better.
On defense, this team is very good, shutting out a talented Pirates offense 31-0.
Marshall, a Conference USA member, will have its work cut out for it against this stifling defense. Last week against the #2 team in the country, Ohio State, fans saw nothing from this offense that should make them believe that it has much talent. QB Brian Anderson threw for just 135 yards. The team’s leading rusher, Martin Ward, gained just 32 yards on the ground.
Granted the WV defense isn’t quite on the same level with the Buckeyes and the Herd will have the advantage of playing at home, but West Virginia looks like it should win this College football betting matchup with ease.
