Oklahoma is one the most celebrated dynasties in college football betting history. This is a school that collects national championships (8 titles in total) at the same frequency that most people buy shoes and they’ll be among the nation’s top teams when the curtain’s pulled on the 2010 NCAA college football betting season as well.
Ranked #7 in the AP Poll expectations, as always, is very high in the Red River Valley. OU will return a heap of offensive weapons with one notable exception: Heisman Trophy winner and #1 overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft, QB Sam Bradford. But that shouldn’t be as big of a transition as you might think as he missed most of last season with injuries and QB Landry Jones stepped in and did skillful job (over 3,000 yards passing, 30 TDs) even if the team’s overall record of 7-5 fell well below preseason expectations.
Jones will be surrounded with plenty of weapons in his first full season of college football betting action and should make fans forget the losses of last year in a hurry.
RBs DeMarco Murray and Chris Brown will both be in the backfield and should compete for All Big 12 honors. Also returning to the starting lineup this NCAA football betting season is WR Ryan Broyles who is coming off a phenomenal 89 catch, 13 TD season in ’09. The receiving corps is actually quite deep with Cameron Kenney and Kenny Stills looking to make a big impact.
On defense the team will be even better than last season and many sports betting analysts expect this to be the strength of the team. All American candidates DE Jeremy Beal and LB Travis Lewis are back and provide strength up front. The team is also experienced at the safety spots with the only real concern being inexperience at the CB position.
However, against Utah State that probably won’t be a problem as the Aggies are a team coming off a 4-win season in ’09 and don’t even have half the talent as the Sooners.
Oklahoma is a legitimate championship contender this year and we should see why in what will mostly likely be a major blowout versus Utah State.
Kickoff for this Saturday matchup is set for 7:05 Eastern Time and sbg global opened with the Sooners as a 33.5-point favorite with an over/under total at 57.5.
