NFL betting lines action will include an intriguing matchup of two of the youngest rebuilding teams in the league as Tampa Bay hosts Kansas City. SBG Global opened with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a 2.5-point favorite over the Kansas City Chiefs with an over/under at 34. Kickoff is at 7:35 PM Eastern.
The Kansas City Chiefs lost their preseason opener at Atlanta to the Falcons 10-20 as 2.5-point dogs as the game went under the total of 34.
Despite that loss in the exhibition opener hopes are high for the Chiefs in 2010 and training camp has shown that the team is improved and ready to leap out from their funk of the past 3 years in which they have lost 35 out of their last 41 games.
Todd Haley enters his second season as head coach of the Chiefs after laying the foundation for success last year which is based on discipline and attention to detail. Haley also placed a large emphasis on improving the ground game, which frustrated fans, but eventually could prove to have a good payoff. As for the attitude of the team, it’s far better than before Haley took over.
“You can just see the change that is taking place,” said Haley.
Kansas City has added key skill players to go with quarterback Matt Cassel as free agents Thomas Jones, Ryan Lilja, Jerheme Ubran and rookie Dexter McCluster will give KC far more effective weapons than in the past.
“You look around at our skill guys and we have some people to do some things,” said Cassel.
The Tampa Bay Bucs lost their preseason opener at Miami last week 7-10 in a driving rainstorm but got the betting NFL preseason cash as 3.5-point dogs as the game went under 33.5.
Much like the Chiefs the Bucs are in the second year of a massive rebuilding project under head coach Raheem Morris.
Mike Williams is having an excellent training camp for the Bucs as they hope he fills the need for a playmaking breakout receiver. He was a fourth round pick from Syracuse that has looked like a number one so far.
Tampa Bay is facing low sports betting expectations again for 2010 but Josh Freeman will be in his second year at quarterback after a tough rookie year in on the job training.
Freeman was impressive in his brief appearance against the Dolphins as he went 4-4 for 53 yards and a TD.
