Even in their wildest imaginations it would be difficult for the Buffalo Bills coaching staff and players to imagine and uglier start to the 2010 NFL betting odds season than where they find themselves at this juncture in time. Heading into their Week 2 matchup with a very good Green Bay Packers team this team has many questions and few answers about how it performed in Week 1.
The expectations heading into this season were very low for the Bills and they certainly lived down to them against the Miami Dolphins in Week 1. On offense the team gained just 166 total net yards with QB Trent Edwards throwing for just 139 yards. Worse still, the team’s running attack, which was supposed to be rejuvenated with the addition of the electric CJ Spiller managed just 50 net rushing yards (Spiller finished with 6 yards).
Basically the Bills have almost no shot whatsoever of winning this game based on the two team’s respective performances in Week 1.
But you never know about NFL gambling matchups and that’s what makes this game so exciting.
Green Bay was impressive in its Week 1 win over a very good Eagles team on the road at the Linc. But it was hardly perfect and this team definitely showed some weaknesses. QB Aaron Rodgers was far from lights out throwing for just 188 yards with 2 TDS and 2 INTs. The receiving corps had difficulties getting open at times as well.
The Packers running game was efficient but this team facing a huge loss trying to replace star RB Ryan Grant (1200 yards and 11 TDs in ’09) who was lost for the year due to injuries. Rodgers and the receivers should play much better against a Bills defense that has yet to prove itself and the friendly confines of Lambeau Field should be just what the doctor ordered.
The Bills will also likely play better as it would nearly impossible to play worse. Spiller has big play possibilities every time he touches the ball and if the O-line could just hold a block for a second or two longer he might be able to open the offense up against a Packers defense that was exposed at times versus the Eagles.
Still the Packers win this one at home with ease. Kickoff for this Saturday matchup is set for 1:05 Eastern Time and sbg sportsbook opened with the Packers as a 13-point favorite with an over/under total at 43.
