Right now the soccer betting odds favorite to win the World Cup betting title is not Spain, not Germany but Holland. While the Spanish side and the Germans still have some World Cup odds business to settle in their semifinal match, the Dutch side has already done the heavy lifting and booked its spot in the World Cup betting final.
As a result of its impressive 3-2 win over Uruguay the team has also been awarded the top spot in the soccer betting odds for the final World Cup betting match of 2010 –at least for a day or two.
At press time the Dutch held the number one spot on the World Cup odds board with roughly 11/8 odds –nearly even money. The Spanish and German sides were virtually deadlocked in the soccer betting lines with approximately 9/4 odds.
These World Cup odds will most certainly change after the other semi-final match is decided and very likely the winner of the Germany-Spain game will be the World Cup betting favorite heading into the final. And, considering the level of competition, both sides have played, in order to reach this point in the World Cup betting action.
Granted, Holland had to knock off the heavily favored Brazilian side in order to reach the World Cup betting final but that was a flawed side and the only team of any real talent that the Dutch team has played so far.
Consider that the Brazilians were very mediocre up front and if the Dutch defense could simply hold them to 1 goal or less they could probably get through. That’s exactly what the Dutch side did in its thrilling win. But Holland’s biggest weakness is its defense especially if this side continues to play with just one holding midfielder.
Against a quick striking unit like Germany where the entire midfield can turn into attack mode in two seconds flat, this will a huge liability for the Dutch and it could result in another 4 goal onslaught.
Holland’s greatest strength is obviously its attack led by stars like Robben, Van Percie and World Cup betting leading goal scorer Wesley Sneijder (5 goals). Keeping these players in check will be imperative, especially in set pieces. Spain has the best defense in the world and a good defense almost always beats a good offense.
Should be a great World Cup betting final but both Spain and Germany are capable of beating the Dutch.
