The Philadelphia Phillies just dished out one of the biggest contracts in baseball betting to their superstar slugger Ryan Howard and against the streaking New York Mets he’ll have a chance to show the hometown crowd that he’s worth it when the two teams square off in what should be one of the better baseball betting matchups on May 2nd.
There is little doubt that Howard is one of the preeminent sluggers in the MLB odds action right now and probably the best power hitter in the NL betting over the past five years. His five-year $125 million contract is well deserved but the Phillies MLB wagering fans still want to see a return on their investment and will demand that Howard shine in this MLB odds series.
Howard’s recent contract was the talk of the baseball betting community for a day or two this week but the real buzz so far this season, at least in the NL East baseball betting world, has been the resurgent Mets and the fantastic run their having in the MLB betting competition so far this year.
Coming off one of the ugliest baseball betting seasons in recent memory, sport betting odds makers had low expectations for this club. And so far the Mets have wildly exceeded those expectations and climbed to the top of the NL East baseball wagering competition.
At 12-9 the Mets are actually a game up on the defending NL Champion Phillies. That’s not something most MLB betting fans thought they would see this season. However, it’s only April and the real test of the Mets prowess against the MLB odds will be to see where the team sits in the standings come August and September.
But for the time being the Mets are the team to beat in the NL East betting action. The team has won 6 straight games and posted an impressive 10-5 record at home.
Fortunately for the Phils (11-9) the series will be held in the City of Brotherly Love. Despite Philly’s nick-name the Mets should expect no love at all and the fans will no doubt give them an ear full in this baseball betting divisional rivalry. Depending on who takes the mound, expect the Phillies to cool the Mets baseball betting hot streak.
