No Brandon Roy, no problem for the Portland Trailblazers who jumped out to an impressive 1-0 lead in this Western Conference basketball betting playoff series.
The Blazers (50-32) were the hands-down underdog in this Round 1 NBA betting matchup and no one really gave them much of a chance against the Phoenix Suns (54-28). The Suns had a better regular season NBA betting record and higher seed in the playoff odds action (#3). Add to that the fact that the Suns have two-time NBA MVP, Steve Nash and red hot superstar Amare Stoudemire vs. the Blazers no-name group of players and the NBA odds seem to overwhelmingly favor the Suns.
Yet, when the ball was finally tipped in this basketball betting playoff series none of that seemed to matter as the group of young and athletic “no-name” players on Portland’s roster busted out of the gates and rolled to a Game 1 sports betting win –on the road no less!
In fact the #6 Blazers were the only team to win a road game in the opening round of the NBA playoff betting action. On Tuesday night these two teams will square off again and priority number one for the Suns will be stopping Portland PG Andre Miller who torched the Suns in the first game actually out playing Nash on his home court in the basketball betting action. Miller penetrated all night opening things up for teammates and getting good looks. He finished the NBA playoff game with 31 points and 8 assists in the 105-100 basketball wagering victory.
Look for the Suns to bounce back and put a lot of points on the board in Game 2 of the NBA betting playoff action. The Blazes long and athletic players made life difficult for the Suns in Game one and held the team under its scoring average, one of the keys to defeating one of the highest scoring teams in the NBA betting. But Nash will find a way to get his teammates the ball and get it through the hoop. NBA odds bettors should expect more points but a win will still be very hard to come by.
Nash is a liability on defense and it’s hard to see how the Suns will stop Miller from repeating his Game 1 performance in the NBA betting action tonight. LeMarcus Aldridge and N. Batum also came up big in the paint with 40 points between them and Marcus Camby was a beast on the boards (17 rebounds) while holding Stoudemire to just 18 points on 8-19 shooting in the previous NBA odds matchup.
Look for a very close game but in the end Suns should get one back on their home court before heading to the Rose City for Game 3 of the NBA betting series.
