This year’s Belmont Stakes betting competition as in most years when there is not a Triple Crown betting contender will not feature the biggest names in the horseracing odds. Nonetheless, it will still feature plenty of fins horses and the Belmont odds are still some of the most important in sports betting.
The Kentucky Derby odds winner, Super Saver, and the Preakness odds champ, Lookin’ at Lucky, will sit out the last leg of the Triple Crown betting challenge and rest up for more horseracing odds competitions later on in the year. But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t great horses in the Belmont odds this year, nor that the Belmont Stakes betting wont’ feature some terrific horse racing.
The plausible front-runner in the Belmont odds is likely Florida Derby odds champion Ice Box. The lanes have yet to be assigned that will no doubt factor into the final horseracing odds for this contest but you’ve got like this horse’s chances. In eight career starts this horse has won three races and finished second in this year’s Kentucky Derby betting action.
Another horse that could also challenge for the Belmont Stakes betting victory is Fly Down, a horse that hasn’t come on until recently but one that might just be the dark horse in this year’s Belmont betting action.
Fly Down is coming off a May 8th victory at the Dwyer Stakes at Belmont Park. Not necessarily one of the biggest horse betting contests of the year, nonetheless Fly Down seems comfortable on this surface and more importantly it demonstrates that this horse can win on this track.
What’s perhaps most impressive about this horse was the fact that it won by such a huge margin, 6 ½ lengths over 3/5 odds favorite, Drosselmyer, in the graded stakes event. In just five career starts Fly Down has won three of its races and will enter the Belmont betting action as one of the hottest horses in racing at the moment.
Drosselmeyer is also a horse that has been featured in many a Belmont Stakes betting discussion but after suffering such a big time defeat by Fly Down it’s kind of tough to imagine this horse threatening for a Belmont title.
