So much for the San Jose Sharks stellar regular season NHL betting record and the team’s hopes of returning to the Stanley Cup betting finals. After Sunday’s loss to the Chicago Blackhawks, the Sharks hockey betting season came to an end in a most unpleasant and extremely abrupt fashion.
As the #1 seed in the Western Conference the Sharks (51-20-11) had little problem advancing past their first two opponents in the NHL playoff odds action. But the team hit a brick wall against the Blackhawks.
In winning Games 1 and 2 on the road in the Shark Tank the Hawks left little doubt in the minds of NHL betting fans that they were a series Stanley Cup betting contender. And by winning Games 3 and 4 at home they booked a spot in the Stanley Cup betting finals and will be the early favorite no matter which team they face in the Stanley Cup betting finals.
The Hawks have been one of the best teams in the NHL betting from day one and after finishing the regular season with just one point less than the Sharks (112) qualified as the #2 seed in the Western Conference playoff odds. In contrast to the East, where the #7 and #8 seeds are battling for a spot in the Stanley Cup betting odds, every knew it would be a Sharks and Blackhawks conference Finals; the two best teams in the hockey betting conference.
But no one expected it to be so one-sided. The Sharks simply couldn’t keep the Hawks out of the net and every time it looked as if San Jose might take the upper hand, somehow Chicago found a way to bounce back.
The Hawks were simply better in nearly every aspect of the game and there is little doubt that the best team won this hockey betting matchup. Led by star player and NHL playoff betting scoring leader Jonathan Toews the Hawks were simply too much for the Sharks to handle in front of the net. Toews has 26 points in 19 games (7 goals and 19 assists). Teammate Patrick Kane also pulled his weight during the series and now trails only Toews in NHL playoff betting scoring (20 points in 19 games).
As a rearward for their stellar play the Hawks will now get a few days of much needed rest before taking on the winner of the Habs vs Flyers series in the Stanley Cup betting finals.
