If you like excitement and the sporting unknown than how can you not like the college basketball betting action so far in the 2009-10 season. Unlike many years in the past this year is wide open with no single dominant team and the top teams dropping left and right. With March just around the corner NCAA odds fans have to be salivating at the prospect of a great Tournament about to unfold.
This year has been one of the wackiest seasons to unfold in awhile. Blame it on the high turnover rate of ‘one and done’ players, or the brutal non-conference schedule that teams play nowadays, but whatever the cause the result is the same: the betting action has been fantastic.
That’s especially true of recent weeks as we’ve seen a number of top ten teams bounced in the rankings. Take for example Texas, one of the last remaining undefeated teams in the land the only team that seemed to be able to keep a hold on the number one ranking. Well, it turns out they couldn’t as the team dropped back to back games and slipped to #6 in the rankings.
And then it was Kentucky’s turn. The last remaining undefeated team in the land and it dropped a conference game to cellar dweller South Carolina, but has so far retained its #1 ranking.
But the list goes on and one. UConn, and early #1 team in the rankings has dropped three games to questionable competition and struggles to maintain its top 25 ranking. Tennessee is another team that climbed to the top of the rankings only to drop a game or two in the SEC and slide in the rankings.
And to think that there’s still over a month of conference basketball left. Better fasten your seatbelt!
