Alabama is 3.5 point favorite with a total of 45.5 at SBG Global.

Texas will be looking to win their second BCS title in the last five years. They have fond memories of the Rose Bowl as they won the title in 2005 on that field as they upset USC 41-38. Texas is an underdog again this time against an Alabama team that looked very impressive in the SEC title game as they routed Florida.  Texas will have to find a way to slow down Ingram who rushed for a school-record 1,542 yards and 15 touchdowns.  He may find the going tough against a Texas defense that was ranked first in all of college football betting against the run.

Texas will look to be more balanced with a mixture of runs and throws but it will usually be McCoy doing both.  He threw for 3,512 yards and 27 touchdowns this season and he was the team’s second leading rusher with

348 yards.  His top receiving target is Jordan Shipley who had 106 catches for 1,363 yards and 11 TDs.

Both Alabama and Texas have a lot of talent on defense. The Crimson Tide have Butkus Award winner Rolando McClain and a solid secondary led by Javier Arenas and Mark Barron.  Texas had excellent defensive numbers as well so they will look to contain Ingram and put pressure on quarterback Greg McElroy. Texas had the most interceptions in all of college football with 24 and Earl Thomas led the team with eight of them.

Central Michigan won the Mid-American Conference for the third time in four seasons. The averaged 32.6 points per game with Jones as head coach and they won the MAC title game over Ohio that got them into this game against Troy.  When Brian Kelly left for Notre Dame, the Bearcats wanted Jones and he took the job. “We are very thankful for the contributions Butch Jones has made to our football program, our university and our community,” athletic director Dave Heeke said. “Any opportunity that arises for him is a reflection of the high-quality student-athletes and strong tradition that Central Michigan has enjoyed. We are excited to be a Top 25 program preparing for our fourth consecutive bowl game.”

Central Michigan will be led by associate coach Steve Stripling for the bowl game. “I’m very excited about the opportunity to lead this program,” Stripling said, “We want to make this a winning experience and have an enjoyable experience as well. This team has accomplished a lot already this season, and we are looking forward to achieving our goals of being college football betting bowl champions and finishing in the Top 25.”

Central Michigan still has quarterback Dan LeFevour for one more game though.  He threw for 27 touchdowns this season to lead the Chippewas. His favorite target is Bryan Anderson who has caught at least one pass in an NCAA record 53 consecutive games.

Troy has an offense that is almost as good as Central Michigan’s. They averaged 33.1 points per game this season and more than 41 in their last six games. They have an excellent quarterback as well in Levi Brown who was second in the nation with 322.3 passing yards per game.

The Trojans are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Trojans are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games. The Chippewas are 25-9-2 ATS in their last 36 games as a favorite.

Georgia Tech is a 5-point favorite with a total of 50.5 at SBG Global.

Georgia Tech usually plays exciting, high scoring games while Iowa plays close, low-scoring games. It will be interesting to see which type of game develops on Tuesday night. This will be the 13th straight year that Georgia Tech has gone to a bowl game.  They are 22-15 all-time in bowl games and 3-2 in the Orange Bowl but they have lost their last four bowl games overall, including 38-3 last year to LSU. Iowa is in their 24th bowl game all-time and they are 12-10-1. They are 0-1 in their only previous Orange Bowl appearance.

Iowa won this season with defense and timely plays. Some might even call it a lot of luck.  The key for Iowa on offense was the play of Ricky Stanzi. Sometimes he was great and other times he was terrible.  But when the Hawkeyes needed a late rally he was always there until getting hurt late in the season. “It’s like being at the amusement park on the wildest roller coaster,” Iowa offensive coordinator Ken O’Keefe said. The defense for Iowa was there all season as they held teams to 15.5 points per game.

Georgia Tech moves the ball on the ground as they were second in the nation in rushing averaging 307.2 yards per game. Jonathan Dwyer had 1,346 yards and 14 TDs while quarterback Josh Nesbitt had 991 yards rushing and 18 TDs. Georgia Tech can also throw when needed as wide receiver Demaryius Thomas had 46 receptions, for 1,154 yards and eight TDs.

The Hawkeyes are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 college football betting bowl games. The Hawkeyes are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games. The Hawkeyes are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games overall. TCU is a 7.5 point favorite with a total of 55 at SBG Global.

TCU come into this game with a dominant defense while Boise State has an explosive offense.  What is sometimes forgotten is that TCU also has a very potent offense and that could be the difference on Monday. TCU quarterback Andy Dalton doesn’t get the press of some other top quarterbacks in the nation but he threw 22 TDs this season and had only five interceptions. “He’s a leader,” TCU coach Gary Patterson said. “It used to be where he asked for people to do things. Now he demands it.”  What also makes Dalton so effective is that TCU can run the ball.  The Horned Frogs rank fifth in the country in rushing with 256 yards per game. “With TCU, they really don’t want to be a balanced attack,” Boise State defensive end Ryan Winterswyk said. “They want to run the ball then they’ll throw screens and things like that. Gameplan-wise, it’s pretty simple. We have to stop the run. And then on the screens and things, we have to get out and cover some ground.”  Last year the Horned Frogs rushed 51 times for 275 yards against the Broncos and scored two rushing touchdowns.  Last year the Horned Frogs didn’t have the potent passing attack they do this year and that makes them even more dangerous.  TCU won ten games this season by double-digits.

Texas Tech is a 7-point favorite with a total of 59.5 at SBG Global.

There is really no way to tell how Texas Tech will play in this game under interim head coach Ruffin McNeill who is the team’s defensive coordinator. McNeill has made it clear he wants the job on a permanent basis so the players might decide to play for him on Saturday.

There should be a lot of scoring in the Alamo Bowl Odds since both teams like to throw the ball.  Michigan State threw for 271.2 yards per game this season as they scored 29.6 points per game.  Kirk Cousins took the job at quarterback and finished the regular season with 2,460 yards and 18 touchdowns. Blair White led the team with 64 catches for 876 yards and eight scores.

Texas Tech was second in the nation in passing yards per game at 380.7.  They averaged 36.7 points per game this season and Taylor Potts threw for 3,068 yards and 20 TDs. Alex Torres is the leading receiver with 65 catches for 791 yards and six TDs.

Neither Michigan State nor Texas Tech plays a lot of defense but at least the Red Raiders show up. Michigan State was weak, allowing 251.6 yards per game through the air and 29 touchdowns. The one thing they can do is rush the passer as they had 34 sacks this season led by Greg Jones. Texas Tech allowed 21.8 points per game this season.  They were not that great against the pass though, allowing 223.8 yards per game.

Texas Tech has won six of their last eight games overall while Michigan State lost three of their last five games. Michigan State has lost their last three college football betting bowl games including 24-12 to Georgia last year.  The Spartans are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. the Big 12. The Spartans are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games as an underdog.

The Red Raiders are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 bowl games. The Red Raiders are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 vs. the Big Ten.

Oregon is a 4-point favorite with a total of 50.5 at SBG Global.

Ohio State ranked fifth nationally in both total defense (262.5 yards per game) and rushing defense (83.42 yards). They will be the best defense Oregon has faced all season. “It’s the most talented and complete defense we’ve seen.” Oregon offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich said.  Ohio State had three shutouts this season and held eight opponents to 100 yards or less in rushing. Linebacker Ross Homan led the Buckeyes with 96 tackles this season. The Ohio State defense will face their biggest challenge of the season against an Oregon offense that averages 236 yards per game on the ground.  Ohio State is focusing on Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli.

“I don’t think we’ve faced a QB that can run the ball as well as he can, as well as pass the ball in space like he does,” Ohio State safety Kurt Coleman said. “It’s definitely going to be a big challenge for us.”

The Big 10 went 1-6 in bowl games last season and Ohio State is very focused on gaining some respect for the conference. “We get tired of hearing it,” Buckeyes quarterback Terrelle Pryor said. “I think the Big Ten as a whole, we’re tired of hearing it.” Motivation could be a major factor in which team wins this game. “Even some of the teams we beat, they say, ‘Go play for us and get these wins.’” Pryor said. “All the coaching staffs on the other teams say that.”

The Hokies are 0-4 against the SEC since the 2004 season so they have something to prove in this game. “There’s no denying that,” Virginia Tech defensive backs coach Torrian Gray said, “It’s something we want to prove: Hey, we can beat an SEC team. We can compete with them and play with them and beat any or all of them.” Earlier this season the Hokies lost 34-24 to Alabama.

The Volunteers don’t seem too worried about the SEC-ACC thing. “I don’t think the records of conferences have anything to do with anything as far as bowl games, because it doesn’t matter,” Tennessee  head coach Lane Kiffin said, “This is Tennessee versus Virginia Tech.”

Virginia Tech is really focused on winning this game against an SEC team.  They are not happy about losing bowl games in 2004 to Auburn and in 2006 to Georgia. Add in a blowout loss to LSU in 2007 and the Alabama loss this year and the Hokies really want a win versus an SEC team. “It’s always great to be playing for your conference, but for me it’s a little more personal,” senior tight end Greg Boone said, “We’ve played three SEC teams since I’ve been here — Georgia, LSU and Alabama — and gone 0-3. As a senior, I really want to go out with a win.”

Nebraska and Arizona just missed out on making it to BCS bowl games. The Cornhuskers nearly beat Texas before losing 13-12 in the Big 12 title game while Arizona led Oregon late before losing 44-41. Nebraska comes into Wednesday’s game with the second best defense in the country, allowing just 11.2 points per game.  The Cornhuskers are led by defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh who finished fourth in the voting for the Heisman Trophy Odds.

He had 82 tackles and 12 sacks this season despite being double-teamed most of the time.  Arizona also has a good defense that was 21st in the country.  They held four of their last five opponents to two touchdowns or less. They may not have much trouble against a Nebraska offense that simply isn’t very good. The only threat for Nebraska is running back Roy Helu who had 1,139 yards this season.

Arizona’s offense is led by quarterback Nick Foles who was the Pac-10’s fourth rated passer. Arizona also has running backs Nic Grigsby and Keola Antolin, who combined for 1,100 yards this year.

Wisconsin and Miami are both 9-3 but they got their by different routes. The Badgers run the ball with Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, John Clay while the Hurricanes throw the ball with the exciting Jacory Harris. This will be the fourth all-time meeting between Wisconsin and Miami with the Hurricanes winning two of the three.  The teams have not met since 1989 when Miami won 51-3.

Miami will be looking to spread the field with Harris who threw for 3,164 yards and 23 touchdowns this season. He did make mistakes though, throwing 17 interceptions.  Miami can also run the ball as they averaged 144.4 yards per game on the ground led by Graig Cooper. The Hurricanes on defense are strong as well, particularly against the run as they allowed only 118.3 yards per college football betting game this season.

The Miami defense will be tested by the Wisconsin running game that averaged 206.7 yards per game. John Clay had 1,396 yards and 16 TDs this year.  Wisconsin doesn’t throw as much as Miami but quarterback Scott Tolzien was solid, throwing 16 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions.  Nick Toon had 52 catches for 779 yards. The Wisconsin defense did struggle against the pass this season and that could be a problem against Miami.

In Jones’ first season the Mustangs went 1-11 but he turned things around this season and ended the losing at SMU.  The Mustangs were very streaking this season as they won two straight, lost four of five and then won four of five to finish 7-5.  Now SMU gets to play in the college football betting Hawaii Bowl, a game in which Jones is very familiar.  “I am so happy that our players will be able to have this experience,” said Jones, “Reaching our first bowl game in 25 years is special – not only for our current student-athletes, but also for the guys who came before them.”

There is no question a lot of points are going to be scored on Thursday. SMU is led by running back Shawnbrey McNeal and freshman quarterback Kyle Padron who threw for 1,462 yards and eight touchdowns in six games. They also have Emmanuel Sanders who had 91 catches and 1,215 yards.

Nevada made NCAA history this college football betting season with three 1,000 yard rushers. They have the best rushing attack in the country and they were second in total offense at 521.6 yards per game. “What we’ve done on offense this year, it is special,” coach Chris Ault said. “It all starts with the guys up front. And the biggest part of it is (Colin Kaepernick) he is the trigger man on the whole deal.” Kaepernick ran for a career-high 1,160 yards and 16 TDs this season.

Neither one of these defense is any good so points should be easy to come by. Nevada can’t stop the pass and SMU can’t stop the run. The Mustangs are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games as an underdog. The Mustangs are 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 non-conference games.
