The Chicago Blackhawks find themselves locked in a 1-1 tie with the Vancouver Canucks 1-1 in their second round playoff NHL odds series. Chicago has been one of the best teams in the NHL betting all year long and yet they can’t seem to break themselves free from a Canucks team that seems to be peaking at just the right moment.
After putting together of the best seasons in recent NHL betting seasons the Blackhawks closed the NHL betting regular season with 112 points (52-22-8) and a Central Division title. The team entered the NHL playoff betting action as the #2 seed in the West and looked ready to set the playoff NHL odds competition on fire. In the first round they did just that, torching the Nashville Predators and making them look silly as the quickly wrapped up the NHL playoff betting series.
But it’s been a tough slog for the Hawks in this second round matchup versus the Canucks. The Canucks have been a fine team all NHL betting season clinching the Northwest Division title (49-28-5; 103 points) but as the points totals prove, the Hawks were the better team during the NHL betting regular season. In the NHL playoff betting action, however, a sleeping giant has awoken for the Canucks as goalie Roberto Luongo has found the zone of late.
He has been playing lights out and getting a puck past him has been like trying to get a greasy pork chop past a pack of wolves. He has clamped down on hid defense and was dominant in Vancouver’s 5-1 thrashing of the Hawks in Game One in Chicago. He was also very solid in the Game 2 loss stopping 30 of 33 shots on goal and one of the goals that the Hawks scored was not his fault.
In fact, the Canucks were up 2-0 and should have gone on to win this hockey betting duel. But the team got sloppy, put Luongo in some bad spots and ended up losing an NHL betting contest they should have won, 4-2. The Canucks know this and they should come out strong for the hometown crowd and cruise to a Game 3 NHL playoff betting win on Wednesday.
