The New York Giants face a must-win game on Monday night against division rival Washington. The Giants are 7-6 and still in the Wild Card picture in the NFC. With three games left, the Giants may have to win all three to make the playoffs. On paper, the game against the Redskins may look easy but Washington has been playing very well of late and with New York’s defensive problems, it may be a tough game to win.
New York is a 3-point favorite at SBG Global with a total of 44.
If the Giants are to win on Sunday they are going to have to play much better on defense than they did a week ago when the Eagles ran up and down the field on them. “We have to fix it,” New York cornerback Terrell Thomas said, “It’s a concern for our secondary and defense. We have to shut it down this week.” Last week they gave up six plays of 20 yards or more in the 45-38 loss. Defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan has simply not done the job this NFL betting season and it is very obvious the team misses Steve Spagnuolo who became the head coach of the St. Louis Rams. The Giants are giving up 25.4 points per game which is 28th in the league.
Washington has been playing better recently but mainly it is the offense. The defense is still giving up big plays. They weren’t tested last week against an Oakland team that lost quarterback Bruce Gradkowski to injury early in the game. Any defense can look good facing JaMarcus Russell who came in after Gradkowski got hurt. Washington has scored at least 24 points in four of their last five games.
There is also big news off the field for Washington. Vinny Cerrato resigned this week and Bruce Allen was hired as the general manager. There are also reports that the team is in contact with Mike Shanahan to take over as head coach next NFL betting season.
The Giants are 22-7 ATS in their last 29 road games. The Giants are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games as a road favorite. The Giants are 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 Monday games. The Giants are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings in Washington.
The Redskins are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as an underdog. The Redskins are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 Monday games. The Redskins are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 home games.
The Under is 3-1-1 in the Giants last 5 games as a road favorite. The Under is 10-3 in the Redskins last 13 home games. The Over is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in Washington between the two teams.
