This Sunday we look forward to another of Nascar Sprint Cup Series races coming to us from Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This race was previously known as the Shelby 427. The Inaugural of this event was in 1998 and was won by Mark Martin. In January 2010 the race name was changed to the Shelby American Classic to honor Carroll Shelby, Inc. This is one of the favorite races for Nascar betting and the Nascar betting odds and matchups.
For many years the race was sponsored by the United Auto Workers Union and DaimlerChrysler, and while always having been a 400 mile race from the beginning until 2008. It was in 2008 with the buyout of Chrysler from Daimler-Benz by Cerberus Capital Management which brought about the name to the UAW for that one year 2008. After 2008 the Las Vegas Motor Speedway announced that it was receiving sponsorship for the race from Carroll Shelby International for the year 2009, and at the same time would extend the race by 27 miles and taking the name of one of Shelby’s most famous autos, the 427 Cobra, as terms of the sponsorship arrangement.
In NASCAR betting and betting odds the Shelby American Classic Race is unique as the winner of this race is presented with a championship belt rather than a trophy thus staying with the image of Las Vegas as the Fight Capital of the World. In its twelve year race history there has been only one 3-time winner and two 2-time winners, of which all three drivers got their victories in Consecutive years; Jimmie Johnson (2005-2007), Matt Kenneth (2003-2004) and Jeff Burton (1999-2000).
After the 2006 race plans were announced to reconfigure the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, primarily through the addition of progressive banking by increasing the degree of banking the further up the track the car goes, thus also increasing the excitement with more side by side racing. The speedway also added a fan area called the “NEON GARAGE”, which provides live entertainment, access to drivers and teams, and serves as home to the Sinner’s Circle. Other changes included the relocation of pit road, placing it some 275 feet closer to the grand stands, the addition of a new multi media center, and a quarter mile Legends Cars oval inside the main tri-oval area.
For Nascar fans, drivers, and teams alike, Nascar betting and betting odds and Matchups, the Shelby American Classic at Las Vegas is one of the most exciting races of the Sprint Cup Series Schedule. This race is the 3rd of 36 on the Sprint Cup circuit and atop the point standings for the first time since 2007 is Kevin Harvick. He is looking for his first win at Las Vegas, where he has two top-five and three top-ten finishes.
Although Harvick is leading in points, as for Nascar betting and betting odds on this race, Four-time Nascar Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson is selected as the odds on favorite to win the Sunday’s Shelby American as SBGGlobal.com has the present money line on Johnson at +400 or 4/1 odds to win. Following Johnson on the Vegas Nascar betting and betting odds is Veteran Mark Martin at 13/2 and then last year’s winner Kyle Busch at 7/1 then Jeff Gordon9/1, Denny Hamlin 10/1, Tony Stewart 11/1, Jeff Burton 14/1 and Greg Biffle 14/1 rounding out the top ten picks.
