Not that long ago the Denver Nuggets looked a legit basketball betting title contender. This team was the second best team in the Western Conference NBA betting for most of the season and looked like the team most likely to dethrone the LA Lakers. But a lot has happened in the past month for the Denver Nuggets and now the team finds itself on the brink of NBA playoff betting elimination.
It wasn’t supposed to go down like this for the Nuggets, a team that most NBA odds makers had pegged for the Western Conference Finals (or even the NBA betting finals) as recently as a month ago. But Coach George Karl was diagnosed with cancer and that seems to have had huge impact on this team’s basketball betting fortunes –and rightfully so.
The team ended the regular season NBA betting action wining just 6 of 10 games and struggled for much of the final four weeks of the basketball betting season. The dropped from #2 in the NBA playoff seeding chart to #4 and drew a very tough opponent in the Utah Jazz.
And if looks as if the Nuggets season will come to an end on Wednesday April 28th unless it can somehow rekindle the flame that catapulted it to such early season success in the NBA odds action.
However, it wouldn’t fair to say that the Nuggets have simply fallen apart over the past few weeks and in the NBA playoff betting as the their opponent, the Utah Jazz is playing as well as any team in sports betting at the moment and deserve credit for their success.
Jazz PG Deron Williams has been on fire and his 24 point, 13 assist performance against in Game 4 has been typical of his play so far in the basketball betting post season. Forward Carlos Boozer has also been a terror for the Nuggets as he chipped in 31 points and 13 rebounds in the Game 4 NBA betting action as well.
In order for the Nuggets to win they need Carmelo Anthony to keep up his scoring pace (39 points in Game 4) and for Chuancey Billups to come alive. Williams has dominated this matchup so far in the NBA playoff betting series and Billups has to not only find a way to slow him down but to find a way to put up some points as well.
It’s a tall order and one that the Nuggets don’t seem up to. Look for Jazz to end this NBA playoff betting series on Wednesday.
