Two of the top teams in the Western Conference meet in Denver on Thursday night as the Nuggets host the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers are set to clinch the top spot in the conference while Denver is still in the running for the second seed. The Lakers have won six of the last ten meetings in this series but the Nuggets have won two of the three games this NBA betting season. At Denver, the Lakers are 4-6 in their last 10 games. Kobe Bryant is averaging 25.4 points per game in his career against the Nuggets.
Nuggets are listed as 2 -point favorite with a total of 204 at SBG Global.
The Lakers will play five games in the last seven days of the regular season and the biggest priority for Los Angeles is getting healthy. “Getting and staying healthy,” guard Derek Fisher said. “No matter who you play, where you’re seeded or what the situation is, if you don’t have all your guys it makes things tougher. Being healthy and staying healthy will be the main key.”
Another thing the Lakers would like to do is actually play a full game at a high level. “Re-establishing the ability to play longer, better [is important],” Fisher said. “We’ve really had very few times where we’ve played more than one half of good basketball and I say that in terms of total, 24 minutes, not like a whole half where we played great.” The Lakers are getting ready for the NBA playoffs odds and no one on the team thinks they are playing very well. “We’re not very consistent. We’re having too many ups and downs at this point of the year when you really want to be on your ‘A’ game or getting to that level.” Pau Gasol said, “So, we got to work really hard these last 10 days that we have left before the playoffs to get to that level.”
The Lakers will not be having a letdown on Thursday against a Denver team who has beaten them twice this season. The Lakers could also clinch the top spot in the West with a win. “That’s a team that we might bump into again,” Lamar Odom said. “It’d be great to get it against them.”
Even though the Lakers have won six of the last ten against Denver in the series they are only 4-5-1 against the spread. The Nuggets are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games. The Nuggets are 1-7-1 ATS in their last 9 games playing on no rest. Six of the last ten in this series have gone under the total and seven of the last nine in Denver have gone under.
