The physiological warfare has already begun and he battle on the hardwood is just hours from getting underway as the Phoenix Suns travel to LA to take on the Lakers in Game 1 of the NBA odds Western Conference Finals.
The run up to Game 1 has been marked by verbal sparring in the papers as both teams have taken jabs at one another concerning Steve Nash’s dribbling and the Lakers’ big men’s elbows. But that’s what NBA playoff betting basketball is all about and on one –least of all the players- can wait for this basketball betting series to get underway.
The defending NBA betting champion Lakers (57-25) hold home court advantage in the series and, at least on paper, have the most talented roster in the NBA odds competition. This is a team that has the best shooting guard in NBA betting, but doesn’t even focus its offense around him. The Lakers have an embarrassment of riches on the offense game with three 7-footers that can all score 20+ points a game and prefer to beat their basketball betting opponents in the paint.
As crazy as it may sound to NBA betting fans, Kobe Bryant has become a luxury on offense for the Lakers. They no longer need him to score 35 points a game to win an NBA playoff betting series and the team is actually better off when he defers on offense to the team’s big men. The Suns (54-28) have nowhere near the talent of the Lakers and if this LA can control the tempo and turn this NBA odds competition into a half court game the Lakers will win easily.
But it’s not so easy to slow PG Steve Nash, who at 36 years old is still the best in the game at running the break. Nash has been nearly perfect during this year’s NBA playoff betting action and his teammates have been shooting the lights out from the perimeter. The key to a Suns victory is shooting well from the outside and controlling the tempo. Nash should have a field day playing against the slow footed Derrick Fischer and should be able to push the ball at will. LA will Game 1 at home but look for the Suns to steal a game on the road before his NBA betting series heads to the Valley of the Sun.
