Unless you’re a camel or a cactus the desert is not a very hospitable place as the San Antonio Spurs learned in their Game 1 one loss in the basketball betting odds action to the Phoenix Suns. The Suns were thoroughly inhospitable and then some ring leader Steve Nash making life miserable for the Spurs to the tune of 33 points and 10 assists in the Suns 111-102 NBA betting victory.
Regardless of the Game 2 outcome (which will be played May 5th) the Spurs will be more than happy to leave the Valley of the Sun and take this NBA playoff betting battle to San Antonio. And the Alamo could serve as a fitting backdrop to this basketball betting battle if they find themselves facing long odds and looking out of a 0-2 hole.
Both teams played well in Game 1 and the Suns were nearly flawless. But the fact that Phoenix was nearly perfect and still almost lost the game has to give hope to the Spurs. There were two main areas where the Suns did their damage against San Antonio in Game: Steve Nash went wild and the Spurs gave up way too many transition points.
The good news for San Antonio is that these two problems are easy to address. Addressing them and executing are of course two different things but the Spurs defense can get back quicker on defense and prevent some of the fast break points from the Suns and it’s unlikely that Nash will put up such impressive numbers every game of this basketball betting series.
And so if you’re the Spurs the Game 1 NBA betting loss probably doesn’t concern you all that much. In fact, you might even be inspired considering there were plenty of positives in the Game 1 Western Conference semi-final loss. The aging trio of Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobli and Tony Parker were superb, each scoring over 20 points and basically doing everything for the Spurs.
However, George Hill was abysmal and the scoring from the supporting cast wasn’t up to par for the Spurs in that NBA playoff betting. Hill must play better and almost certainly do a better job defending Nash in Game 4. And best of all for the Spurs, they’ll have the support of their hometown crowd in Game 4 and that, factored together with everything else, should be enough to give them the NBA betting victory.
