The Boston Celtics will try and take a 2-0 lead in their NBA Playoffs betting series against the Miami Heat on Tuesday night in Boston but they will have to do it without Kevin Garnett who was suspended for his role in a Game 1 incident involving Miami’s Quentin Richardson. The Celtics were able to win the opener 85-76 but they will miss Garnett on Tuesday night.
Boston is a 1.5 point favorite with a total of 179 at SBG Global.
Garnett had 15 points and nine rebounds for Boston. The Celtics are taking Tuesday night as a challenge though and they expect to play well without KG in the lineup. “We know we can win. We know we can hold down the fort if KG is out a game,” Pierce said, “We’re not one of those teams that when their star player goes down that’s an excuse to not play hard, not try to win the game. We’re a team that feels like with KG and without KG we’re supposed to win a game”
The series is definitely going to be intense the rest of the way. “You’ve got to understand, both teams are playing for a championship,” Paul Pierce said. “There’s so much more at stake. It’s just like a prize fighter. When you fight for that goal, it’s not like the other fights. This has much more meaning.”
The Heat are not upset about the incident and Dwayne Wade was even happy about it. “That’s Q. I love him for it. Sometimes he can drive me crazy with it,” Miami’s Dwyane Wade said. “He’s a little bit more rah-rah than me. The guy’s tough. It’s embedded in his DNA. But most of all, he’s about winning. He’s about making sure he’s not outshone.” Richardson had 15 points in the opener and Miami played well until the fourth quarter. They blew a 14 point third quarter lead. “They try to push you to the limit. They try to bully you,” Wade said. “If you let them get in your head, they’ll succeed at it. That’s what they do. I think for a couple minutes there they kind of got in our head.”
The Heat are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 road games. The Heat are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 Tuesday games. The Heat are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings between the two teams.
