Now that the NBA Trade Deadline has arrived SBGGlobal.com is taking a look at the Winners and Losers that resulted from the trades. A winner was Antawn Jamison, a true professional Basketball player who was on a non functioning team. Now he will be playing on one of the NBA’s best teams (the Cavaliers) with one of the League’s most dominant player (Lebron James). In this trade Jamison’s fortunes changed more than any other player involved in the NBA trade winds.
Looking at one of the losers, Zydrunas Llgauskas, who had been a fixture for 12 years in Cleveland and now that the Cav’s are in position for their first title the Big Z finds himself heading to Washington in the exchange for Jamison.
As SBGGlobal.com looks at the NBA and betting on the NBA we see another loser in the Miami Heat. The Heat tried to get Amar’e Stoudamire from the Suns in an effort to get a big man of quality and some help for the overplayed star Swayne Wade. When that deal fell through they went to Carlos Boozer only to be out bid by the Jazz. Now with no deal as the deadline ends they face a real scary summer unless they can sign a marquee free agent from where?
Now we take a look at another NBA team that was a winner, the Dallas Mavericks. Mark Cuban the owner of the Dallas Mavericks is never afraid to make a big splash, even if it costs him some money! Here, he greatly improved the team by stealing Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood from the Washington Wizards while losing little in injured Josh Howard and Drew Gooden. Haywood addition is particularly important since the Mavericks starting center is going to miss playing time with a dislocated middle finger.
Another loser as we at SBGGlobal.com look at the NBA second half of the season and the NBA betting options was Amar’e Stoudemire who was a topic of all the pre deadline chat which had him joining the Cav’s or the Heat in Miami. Instead, he’ll remain in Phoenix at least until his free agency status happens this summer.
Then we see three NBA teams that came out winners, the Knicks, Bulls and the Clippers. These three NBA teams were winners in the sense that they were able to get rid of bad contracts and free up cap room so they might bid on the big name free agents that will be available this summer. The Knicks were able to dump Jared Jefferies on the Rockets as part of the trade of Tracy McGrady. Now they could offer two maximum deals like that of Lebron James and
Dwayne Wade as they become free agents. The Chicago Bulls will more than likely also go after Wade, a Chicago Native after they were able to dump John Salmons in a trade with the Milwaukee Bucks. And it is a sure thing that the Washington Wizards were one of the NBA Odds Losers. They gave away valuable stock in Antwan Jamison, Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood, you would think you would have more to show than the likes of Josh Howard and Al Thorton? It was nice that they cleared Cap space, but unless they can lose the worst contract in the NBA (Gilbert Arenas due $80 million the next four seasons) this franchise is a joke!
Another winner in the NBA was Tracy McGrady after he wore out his welcome in Houston, he needed (T-Mac) a fresh start and he’ll now get that chance with the New York Knicks, who have nothing to lose by playing the seven-time All-Star guard. T-Mac is making a NBA high $23.2 million this season but has barely played following micro fracture knee surgery. The next two months will give him a chance to earn another healthy payday this summer.
All in all the NBA had twelve trades completed in the week leading up to the Thursday trade deadline. And it remains to be seen how the Sacramento Kings became a fortunate bystander in the T-Mac/Knicks trade, finding the time good for a deal with Martin. The Kings opened up some more 2010 cap space. So now that they’ll have some room to spend there should be anyone interested in going there. But remember in NBA trades, they say: the team that gets the best player winds. Martin was the best player in the deal and the Kings traded him, so we will have to wait and see. As will we here at SBGGlobal.com as we see how all the NBA Basketball trading is going to affect the upcoming basketball betting lines and odds?
