The University of North Carolina has enjoyed an embarrassment of college basketball betting riches over the past few decades. From its record setting coaches, to its superstar players to its collection of NCAA odds titles, no team has been as dominant over the past 30 years in college basketball betting as the Tar Heels.
So it’s little surprise that the team’s awful play this season has turned the NCAA odds world on its head. And for the first time in recent memory not only will the Tar Heels not be a legitimate college basketball betting title contender come March, but they won’t even be invited to the Big Dance.
With just a handful of games left in the regular season action North Carolina is firmly rooted in the ACC cellar. In fact, not only is the team firmly in the ACC’s college basketball betting cellar, they are in last place. Yes, mark your calendars because you may never see this again.
With a record of 14-14 overall the team is in danger of having a losing record, something that cause the entire universe to implode. After a recent blowout, at the Dean Dome no less, to the mediocre Seminoles of Florida State the team has just 3 wins in ACC play and 10 losses.
This awful performance by the premier program in the NCAA odds competition is akin to seeing snow in Miami: not impossible, but so rare that no even gives it any serious thought.
The team could still make the NCAA tournament but it would have to win the ACC tournament which would require the team win four games in succession –more than it’s won all season- and appears all but impossible.
