At Sport Media Network we are asked why can I win at live poker, but lose at online poker? The reason scares many people and that is because normally you are not as good as you think you are. Also the fact that online poker is much faster than live poker and allows many more hands to be played than the much slower live games and therefore the statistical facts can catch you! Then the questions are asked are online poker players better? Are you playing the right games? Are you playing at the wrong times? Are the games rigged online in anyway?

Even though these may be valid questions that could affect your profitability, it’s highly possible that at the end of the day you don’t take it as seriously as normally when you play live the focus is on the game. Online one has the tendencies to lose knowledge that you would normally pick up on in the live games. Being factual with ones self helps also as probably you as many others have many distractions while playing online. Most people are not just playing poker online, as they may also be doing work, writing or reading emails, playing with kids or grandkids, answering the wife/hubby, video editing, checking out a social network like Facebook or Twitter or others, and very rarely just playing online poker.

In addition to loosing information many are much more of a cowboy playing online more so than playing live. Also often taking more risks and pushes the boundaries on ones creativity. Then one tends to treat money with less respect when playing online as normally one plays with smaller buy-ins than when playing live. And to some its like playing with monopoly money, and many times have less patience and do stupid things. Problem there is that its real money and you can lose just the same!

In end, one for above reasons should not quit online poker, but instead should learn from the experiences, and overcome the distractions, and take the game as seriously as when playing live. Always keeping in mind that you are playing with real money and that in the long run there is no reason you should not be able to win as well online as when playing live. If you care to meet a company that understands the online poker game and more certainly the players, then give our friends at POKERHOST.com a try with online poker and will sure you will enjoy there excellent bi-lingual services.

The Online poker industry generates revenue that is estimated to be $6.7 billion dollars for 2010 or more than double what it was before the legislation was passed to attempt to restrict online gaming in the United States.

The Top Three(3) Online Poker sites on the internet combined average from 30,000-70,000 cash players at any one given time. One of the largest sites online has dealt over 40 billion hands since it opened play in 2001. This would take a person playing 24 hours a day over 100,000 years to accomplish the sane feat. With the enormous amount of action its understandable why a U.S. Congressional report from 2009 estimated that online gambling could generate over $50 Billion dollars in task revenues over a ten year period if the online industry were regulated and taxed.

That would be enough money to cover the complete budget for a ten year period of the Central Intelligence Agency as well as manage to keep the U.S.

Postal service in a continued operation for 12 years and pay all expenses of the National Park Service for an additional 25 years while also funding the Food and Drug administration for the next 25 years and/or build 2500 full size urban high schools.

It does not take much of these incredible statistics to realize that all should get behind the parties to encourage that some type of actions should be taken to make, especially online poker, legal around the world. In the meantime we suggest you visit our friends at POKERHOST.com as they are a entity that works for the benefit of online poker players and few other internet poker sites understand the online poker players as they do!

At Sports Media Network on many occasions we are asked, how does on handle bad beats when playing online poker? Should one go on tilt and give away your chips, or are you in who realizes that bad beats happen? We think a good online poker player will keep themselves from losing everything after a bad beat while the bad players won’t. First let’s look at the definition of a “bad beat” in poker is one that when a player has a strong poker hand and he ends up getting outdrawn. In today’s Texas Holdem it appears everyone plays everything, and bad beats are more common than ever before. One must learn hoe to handle bad beats if they want to be a regular and long time winner playing online poker.

Many times when players get hit with a bad beat they will go on “tilt.” That’s when player losses control and simply gives his chips away. It is very normal to want to win everything back after a bad beat, but it very rarely happens. The problem is most poker players don’t understand that and they will make additional mistakes that will cost them more money. The Good players are setting back and waiting to pounce on a player that loses it. Players that win money playing poker are those who don’t lose it after facing a bad beat.

The better players are intelligent enough to realize that, yes bad beats happen. Many times these players will take a break from the game and table after a bad beat occurs. Today’s aggressive poker results in more bad beats than in the past. If you can be one of the few players that can accept bad beats as part of the game then you can actually capitalize on them instead of going on tilt.

Great players can spot a player on tilt in a heartbeat and they take advantage nearly of the situation every time. You can do the same thing. There are a lot of chances to win money playing online poker. You can only do so if you remain in the game. If you go on tilt after a bad beat and lose your bankroll you will not be around to take advantage when the tables are turned. Learn to control your emotions after a bad beat and you will become a much better poker player. We recommend you join POKERHOST.com and practice handling poker bad beats in all events, and get to know the excellent bi-lingual staff that they have who understand the online poker players.

At SportsMediaNetwork we have been asked the question is their thing as the best position on online poker. Few online poker players give little or no importance to the position in poker and some are not sure what it means. If you are thinking about online poker as a pro, you should know exactly what position in poker refers too. Position in poker is the terminology used to explain where a player is sitting compared to the other players. If a player is sitting to your left, he will always act after you and it means you have a position on him. Usually the position term is used to define where a player is seated compared to where the dealer is seated. In this case you will know if you will be the first or the last to act in every betting round.

Many online poker players will focus their energy on playing strategy and tend to overlook some other important aspects of the game. If one is serious about improving their game, just using one simple thing like position can give you advantage over a period of time. Once you are aware of most of the factors that contribute to the game you can have a better control of what is going on, protect your hand, get the most out of every pot and even manipulate the other players in your favor.

So is their a best position in poker? Yes as one of the best positions in poker is the dealer position, and if you can’t get the dealer position, the next best position is to be as far as possible away from the dealer. If you are the dealer you know your cards will be dealt last and you will have the last move that normally is the most important. The worst position is the first position to the left of the dealer known as the small blind position. Why the worst. Simply because you have to make the first move all the time and you have to pay the blinds.

Since you now know the best and worst position in a poker game you can use your position to influence the game to your advantage. If you are the last to bet you can take into consideration the bets made by the players and you now have access to the maximum amount of information at the poker table. You will know the moves of each player and how quickly they re-acted. TELLS ! Hopefully this will lead you to wiser decisions. Knowing the best positions and only making large bets when you have a good position will also lead to your success in playing online poker. Now that you know the position factors give the friends a POKERHOST.com the opportunity to share with them your playing skill, strategies, and abilities of online poker where they truly understand world-wide online poker players. Where there is no compelling societal reason to sacrifice it. We demand nothing less and go back to state the people’s choice, regulate it, bu don’t ban poker. The people at POKERHOST.com basically share this and similar opinions and welcome you to visit their site and allow them to demonstrate their knowledge of online poker and online poker players!

Just was asked, what is happening with the legalization of online poker in the United States. Well we have heard a lot from Florida, Iowa and California, but it seems as though New Jersey is leading the way in this legislative issue! One of the toughest gambling regimes in the United States, New Jersey, is forging the way for the introduction of legal online poker and casino gambling. The New Jersey House Bill 2570, introduced this month, could see the state’s casinos offer internet gambling to its citizens as early as this year.

The bill introduced by Senator Raymond J. Lesniak forms a very real opportunity for New Jersey to open the doors for other states to follow suit. The NewJersey House Bill 2570 will definitely be a pioneering piece of legislation that will see states such as California, Iowa and Florida – all currently teetering on the sidelines – forge ahead with their own intrastate online gambling laws. The road to eventually bringing legal online poker to the casinos of Atlantic City, New Jersey will certainly not be a simple one, and groups will need to be well established in order to be able to afford licenses, according to Senator Lesniak’s bill proposal. Operators will be expected to cough up at least $200K in annual wagering permit fees, as well as a renewal fee of $100K.

The law calls for the entire industry to be overseen by the gambling commission, with sufficient fees being made available to cover all costs. There will also be tough restrictions linked to the new bill, governing all potential problems such as under age gambling, debit and credit card abuse, game corruption and problem gambling. But if you want a preview of legal online gaming take a look at POKERHOST.com and online poker enterprise that caters to and understands online poker players, with a first class bi-lingual customer service star.

Today at Sport Media Network we will briefly examine the question that we have been confronted with several times as of late. What can we expect to happen in the Poker industry during 2010? In today’s fast changing world and so many things going on in front of us at present, especially in the US poker world,

it could be the time we sit back and speculate on what we can expect from the online poker legislation front by the end of this year 2010. Is it possible that we will see the repeal of the UIGEA and will the PPA be able to get online poker approved on a federal level in the United States?

In order for that, we must recognize the huge hurdles that are facing the industry in terms of opposition, existing legislation, and certainly time constraints. As it goes, analysts are very skeptical as to whether any major changes may be made that govern this legislation at a federal level, because it will be quite improbable to convert Congressional Democratic leadership in such a short space of time. However, on a state level changes are definitely happening as we discuss the issues. It is believed that either New Jersey or Florida will be the first states to approve intrastate online gambling and/or online poker playing. With much opposition in other states, it is expected that some of these states will follow suit, if only to get the ball started in the direction of legalizing poker.

Is it possible to hope that implementation of the UIEGA will be delayed once again? Experts certainly seem to think it will happen, which would give online poker operators and banks, another grace period of at least six months. One must understand that it also means that if Barney Frank’s bill is not heard in this session it can still be introduced in the next session.

In California experts are of the opinion that they need to seriously examine the option of providing itself with a steady stream of income. Based on its current deficit problems and online poker could provide just that, a legalized, regulated and taxed system of intrastate poker. They say, “Time is of the essence. Every day we wait means millions of dollars in potential revenue that should stay in California leave California.”

And on the International front it appears that a number of countries and regions are relaxing their online poke rules, as they seek ways to control the industry and earn revenue from same, without banning it outright. The latest example is Quebec! Quebec has taken the first step towards a regulated online poker industry; there is no stopping other Canadian provinces who will also be seeking a slice of the potential millions to be had out of the industry. The thought that Quebec will benefit from the $50 million pie all on its own must have been too much for Ontario Premier, to stomach and he hinted this week that his province may also be heading for changes to its current poker and gambling laws. Here’s an announcement that just came out today: The European nation

of Belgium will soon be permitting online gambling operators on their soil and granting licenses.

Well as you sit back and speculate about all these changes, go online a go to POKERHOST.com a online poker site that awaiting much needed changes, especially with the UIEGA and in the meantime would love to have you join them and their freeroll madness, and you will be very pleased with their excellent customer service and affiliate program from those that truly understand online poker players.

A man who admits to taking part in a brazen daylight raid on a poker tournament in Berlin turned himself into authorities and identified three accomplices who remain on the run, officials said Wednesday. During questioning, he admitted to his involvement and named his three accomplices, prosecutor Sjors Kamstra told reporters. Authorities issued photos of the three — Ahmad el-Awayti, 20, of undetermined nationality; Jihad Chetwie, a 19-year-old German; and Mustafa Ucarkus, a 20-year-old Turkish citizen. They said they did not have further suspects.

All three already are known to German police in connection with previous suspected offenses including robbery and bodily harm. Officials said the car the robbers used, a Mercedes, has now been found. The money, however, hasn’t yet been recovered. The man told investigators that he took a look at the venue in advance, “took a look at where the money is, how the money is secured, are their guards, are the guards armed,”And when he saw that the guards didn’t have guns, they decided that they had a chance.”

Today we learn that Police in Berlin have released one of the men they had suspected in taking part in a heist at a poker tournament where armed robbers took off with €240,000 in tournament prize money. German authorities have been hunting for four suspects who, armed with guns and machetes, stormed the poker tournament in broad daylight last Saturday in downtown Berlin, stunning the participants and the audience.

Contrary to tabloid reports, no Kalashnikov assault rifles or hand grenades were used. Video of players streaming out of the venue has appeared on YouTube, possibly even showing the attempted robbery as it was occurring.

Although there was about a four-hour delay, play resumed in EPT Berlin with 20 players remaining, although there were disputes as to chip counts and how to continue with play of hands that were in action prior to the disruption. Also suspended for the day were any live online video webcast updates. Nevertheless, by the end of the day, the eight-handed final table was determined.

After all is said and done, one thing we can say for sure, is that would be very difficult to duplicate at an online poker tournament or any online freeroll event so we at POKERHOST.com feel assured for the present that our player will not be exposed to such an apparent lack of security the casino poker event in Berlin!

Today we at Sports Media Network take a look at poker and offer some words from the wise or wiser than most. To begin with if you are new to the World of online poker, it is recommended that in the beginning you enter only freeroll games and it is suggested you not deposit to much until you get accustomed with the software and the way of playing poker online.

In poker whether it is online or elsewhere you should carefully select your starting hands. You do not need to play every hand that you are dealt, and if you should you will more than likely loose money in the long run. And certainly never bet all your money on the basis if one card.

It is very important that you read as many article on poker and strategy theories as you can without completing confusing your self, and therefore just give yourself time to learn the necessities. Also, try to reduce the number of mistakes that you make in your games played on a daily basis, and don’t make the mistake that you think poker is not a skill based game. Know your limits and play by a bankroll management strategy.

If you want to be a big poker player or pro, you need to possess the ability or learn to “read” the other players, and get in to their minds and thoughts, and their way of playing their hands. The advice given here are some very small, and basic advice for all. Playing Poker and gambling is hard work. Don’t let anyone tell you different. Just think about what its like sitting at a poker table with players whose only goal is to cut your throat, take your money, and leave you out talking to yourself about what went wrong. That might sound harsh, but that’s the way it is at the poker table. If you can’t believe that, then you’re the lamb that’s going off to the slaughter. Poker is a microcosm of all we admire and disdain about capitalism and democracy. It can be rough-hewn or polished, warm or cold, charitable and caring, or hard and impersonal, fickle and elusive, but ultimately it is fair, and right, and just.

If you want to learn more poker rules, strategies and get a freeroll bankroll in the mean time why not join pokerhost.com as they are very knowledgeable of online poker players. A quote we repeat for your benefit is “Most of the money you’ll win at poker comes not from the brilliance of your own poker play, but from the ineptitude of that of your poker playing opponents.

We at Sports Media Network are excited about the news that the International Federation of Poker will be accepted into the International Mind Sports Association in April 2010. This signifies that poker will be joining a list of games that include chess, bridge and go as an official game of skill. Since the International Olympic Committee recognizes the International Mind Sports Association, which means poker will be considered an official game of skill to the IOC. This decision does not necessarily mean that we will be seeing poker in the summer Olympics anytime soon, but it is a first step in the right direction. This acceptance into the IMSA as well as recognition by the IOC gives poker another strong argument in court as to being a game of skill. The nature of online gaming may be in question, but so far the courts have been pretty lenient in a; owing games of skill to be allowed. Will this IOC distention assist in the efforts to legalize online poker in the United States, well that remains to be seen, many poker sites have competitions like the World Cup of Poker which matches players from various countries against each other.

We are encouraged that the IOC has recognized what we poker players have always known. Poker is an honorable game of skill,” commented Rich Muny, a board member for the Poker Players Alliance. “Many states have already legally codified recognition of the fact that competitions based on skill are different from wagering on dice or other events based on chance. I believe this decision will encourage more states to recognize this distinction legally.” “Poker is not like other casino games. It’s a social game where people are playing against each other, not the house, and a game where skill plays a bigger role than luck. There are 120 to 150 million poker players in the world and we deserve this recognition.” While we know the United States would field a dream team of poker players, there are plenty of other countries that would challenge for the gold medal.

The IOC has outlined that a game/sport must be practiced by men in at least 75 countries and on four continents and by women in at least 40 countries and on three continents to be recognized. Although we can all agree that poker is not a traditional sport that requires physical skill and toughness like pole vaulting, there might be a place for games of skill at the Olympics.

To have poker accepted as an official game of skill by the International Mind Sports Association and the international Olympic Committee is a great huge step in the right direction for the entire poker industry and we think all should visit PokerHost.com where you get first class service and a company that especially understands online poker players.
