The entire sports betting world will be on notice Friday night when the Philadelphia Flyers travel to the Boston to take on the Bruins in a date with Stanley Cup betting history. In the long and storied history of Lord Stanley’s eponymous Cup only two teams have come back from a 3-0 deficit in the hockey odds to win the series. And no team in hockey betting history has accomplished such a feat since Gerald Ford was the president.
On Friday night the Flyers will look to add their name to that list as the third team in NHL playoff betting history to come back from a 3-0 deficit and win the best of seven series. The crazy thing is, nearly every Stanley Cup betting line favors the Flyers in their seemingly impossible quest.
Just a week ago it looked like the Boston Bruins might be the best team in the NHL playoff betting action after jumping out to a 3-0 lead and what looked to be a certain sweep on their way to the Eastern Conference Finals betting. But Philly took Game 4 at home, dominated in Game 5 on the road and grabbed an impressive 2-1 hockey betting victory back in Philly.
And now these teams are squared up at 3-3 and the Bruins look like a team on the ropes. With three straight wins the Flyers are fully in control of this series and have the hockey betting wind in their sails and momentum on their side. Back up goalie Michael Leighton was a big question mark heading into Game 6 but he was superb and will only get better with a few more days of practice under his belt.
If he can hold up in the net the Bruins’ Stanley Cup betting hopes will come to a close on Friday. Even with home ice advantage and a crazy crowd of ‘Massholes’ in the stands the Bruins simply seem to have run out of gas. This is an injury-riddled team whose injuries have finally caught up with them. Boston hasn’t been able to move the puck well and seems to be on a downward trajectory in the NHL playoff betting action. Look for the Flyers to grab a piece of NHL betting history and capture this series in Game 7.
