The Philadelphia Flyers have overcome almost insurmountable odds in the run up to the Stanley Cup betting action and so a 2-0 deficit in a hockey betting series is hardly intimidating. But with the biggest prize in the hockey odds on the line, if you’re the Flyers, you’ve got to be glad you’re headed back to Philly for Game 2 of the Stanley Cup betting series against the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Flyers have seemed like a team of destiny during this year’s NHL playoff betting action but the Flyers miracle come from behind wins have all come against lowered seed teams (see the #6 seed Boston Bruins) and against a quality team like the Hawks it may not be so easy to crawl out of a hockey betting deficit like that.
After losing an offense shoot-out in Game 1 and then a defensive stalemate in Game 2 the Flyers have demonstrated that the Hawks have the upper hand in both types of games. But as the this Stanley Cup betting series progresses the series is likely to get more physical and this type of play favors the Flyers in the NHL odds action.
The Flyers have already done a great job taking Chicago captain and leading scorer in the NHL playoff betting action, Jonathon Toews (26 points in 18 games), and can really get the Hawks off their game in Philly with consistent body checking in front of a crazed Flyers home crowd.
And despite being down 0-2 in the hockey betting series the Flyers could easily be tied 1-1 or perhaps even leading 2-0 if the puck would have bounced a bit kinder in either one of the 1-goal hockey betting defeats in this series. In Game 2 it looked like the Flyers would at least tie the game in the closing minutes of the third period when the team put an enormous amount of pressure on Hawks’ goalie Antti Niemen and had several quality looks on goal. However, you got to give credit for Niemen for sticking with it and securing his teams Stanley Cup betting victory.
Look for the Flyers to come out aggressive in Game 3 and try and score first. Also look for the physicality of play to be raised another notch in this hockey betting matchup and for Philly to get a win on its home ice.
