The Stanley Cup betting action is well underway as the first three games in this series have passed by like a blur. With the home yet to lose and every game in this hockey betting matchup being decided by a margin of 1 goal, you would think the NHL odds makers’ job would be easy. But this is the NHL and nothing is predictable. If anything, we should count on something unpredictable happening in Game 4 of the 2010 Stanley Cup wagering.
The Flyers would seem to have the upper-hand heading into Game 4 as they’ll be playing in front of hometown crowd in an arena that more closely resembles an insane asylum at times than the home of an NHL betting match up. And if this Stanley Cup betting series holds true to form the home team will win by 1 goal.
But that seems like it would be a bit too quaint of an ending for an NHL playoff betting season that has been anything but ordinary.
The Flyers came out and took control of the game early in Game 3 and put constant pressure on Hawks goalie Antti Niemi. Look for them to try and do that again but also look for Chicago’s defense to be more active in the lane and try and get their sticks on a few more pucks and make the Flyers pay for being overly aggressive. We saw that scenario play out in Game 3 as Hawks captain Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane get out front of the Flyers on a breakaway and register their first points of the this Stanley Cup betting series [Kane Goal (1), Toews Assist (1)].
But both teams played wide open in Game 3 and Chris Pronger was a 1-man wrecking crew sucking up stray pucks on the other end. It made for incredibly exciting hockey betting action but it’s also a dangerous way to play.
Expect both teams to be a bit more cautious in the early going of Game 4, but the Flyers are likely to take more chances the longer the game goes on as it’s their best shot at evening this NHL betting matchup.
