The first round of the NHL playoff betting action is over and the teams that survived are now busily planning and practicing for their semi-final opponents as they take one step closer to reaching the Stanley Cup betting action.
In the Western Conference the first round hockey betting action was full action, excitement and surprise. But it comes as little surprise to most NHL playoff betting fans that the San Jose Sharks advanced past their first round hockey betting opponent, #8 seed Colorado Avalanche and are one step closer to being featured in the Stanley Cup odds action.
Nor is it any great surprise that the defending Western Conference champion Detroit Red Wings also advanced from the first round hockey betting competition. However, that these two quality teams will meet in the Stanley Cup betting semi-finals wasn’t quite as easy to predict.
And now that these two teams will square off it should be a terribly exciting NHL playoff betting matchup between two of the best teams in the league. The Sharks grabbed the #1 seed in the NHL postseason betting after winning the West in the regular season competition with 113 points (51-20-11).
The Wings qualified for the NHL playoff betting competition as the #5 (102 points) and defeated the Coyotes in Game 7 of their hockey betting matchup in round one. That the lower-seeded Wings defeated the higher seed Coyotes in the run up the Stanley Cup betting is an upset only on paper as many hockey betting odds makers picked the Wings to advance even before the series began.
And once again the Wings will be the lower seed on paper but there’s not many hockey betting fans that would bet against this team winning the series. The Sharks will have home ice advantage throughout this NHL playoff betting series and Shark Tank is one of the hardest places in the NHL to play. But Joe Lewis Arena is also a bastion of NHL betting crazies and no team wants to travel there to take on the Wings when Stanley Cup betting fever has taken over Detroit.
In fact, there is very little reason to think that the Wings can’t pull off another upset in the NHL playoff seedings and advance one step closer to the Holy Grail of hockey betting.
