Now the dust has finally settled and the Stanley Cup odds are set it’s a great time to take a look and see how the two remaining teams in the NHL betting action matchup.
The Philadelphia Flyers seem to be on a mission from as they continue to re-write the hockey betting history books and look to bring a Stanley Cup betting title back to the City of Brotherly Love. After becoming just the third team in modern sports betting to come back from a 3-0 hole in an NHL odds playoff series, and embarrassing the Montreal Canadiens in the Eastern Conference Finals betting action, this team has major momentum on its side.
The Chicago Blackhawks obviously took a much different route to the Stanley Cup betting Finals. This has been one of the best teams in the NHL betting all season long as evidenced by its #2 playoff seed and 112 regular season points (52-22-8). This team not only breezed through it’s first of two NHL playoff betting series but it swept the #1 seed Sharks (51-20-11) in the Western Conference Finals.
The Flyers are certainly the underdog in the NHL odds for this series and on paper the Hawks should decimate Philly and win the Stanley Cup betting series in 4 or 5 games. But the way the Flyers are playing right now after having to win a shoot-out on the last game of the NHL betting season just to get into the NHL playoff betting action is something phenomenal. You’d have to be a lunatic to bet against Philly right now.
Still, the Hawks are the superior team in this NHL betting matchup. Up front this is one of the biggest teams in hockey betting and no doubt one of the best. The Hawks scored 271 goals during the NHL odds regular season, third best in the league. The Flyers offense on the other hand netted just 236 goals and until very recently in the NHL playoff betting competition had struggled to find the net.
The Philly defense is above average and playing out its head right now as it most recently held the leading goal scorer in the NHL playoff betting action, Mike Cammallerie, to just 1 goal in the Eastern Conference Finals. But the Habs are one of the smallest and least physical teams up front in hockey betting and it will be a very rude awakening for the Flyers trying to guard the monstrous forwards from Chicago.
The Hawks scorers should give Philly fits and hard to see the Flyers winning this series.
