The Chicago Blackhawks made a bold statement in Game 1 of their Stanley Cup betting series against the San Jose Sharks. In the opening game of the Western Conference Finals betting the Hawks defied the NHL odds and took Gam1 of the hockey betting series with inspired play and a late goal to seal the deal.
Hockey betting fans have been looking forward to this matchup of the two best teams in the West for some time and Game 1 of this NHL playoff betting series did not disappoint. Both teams played their guts out and the quality of the hockey was phenomenal. The Sharks (51-20-11) got on the board first with a beautiful wrister from Jason Demers on the power play that paralyzed Hawk’s goal keeper, Antti Niemi.
But apart from that one amazing goal that bounced in off the cross bar, Neiemi was perfect through three periods of Stanley Cup betting competition. He stopped 44 of 45 shots and was a huge part of the Hawks success. Chicago got on the board in the second period of the hockey betting competition and never looked back. Patrick Sharp netted his six goal of the NHL playoff betting action with 7:44 left in the period and Dustin Byfuglien scored the game winner with 13:15 left in the final period.
San Jose had plenty of good looks on goal in the closing minutes and even finished the game with a power play but Niemi was too good and he got plenty of help from his defenseman. For NHL hockey betting fans this game was everything you could have wanted and more. So far through three periods of the Stanley Cup betting action this series is everything that the hockey betting fans hoped it might be.
Both teams defense was superb and goals were not easy to come by. Niemi stole the show but his counterpart, Sharks keeper Egevni Nabokov was nearly as good saving 38 of 40 shots and made life very difficult for Hawks forwards all game long. Surprisingly after a week layoff there wasn’t much rust on the Sharks’ game and it was actually the Hawks that came out slow and had to warm up during the NHL betting action. Game 2 should pick up where this one left off and be another thrilling NHL betting opportunity.
