The LA Lakers sent a message in Game 1 of the NBA Western Conference Finals by not only beating the visiting Phoenix Suns, but beating them badly; very badly. The game was never even close after half-time with the NBA betting champing Lakers playing their best basketball of the entire NBA playoff betting season so far and burying the Suns 128-107.
Heading into the is basketball betting matchup there were several common scenarios that the NBA odds makers envisioned but none of them included a 21-point beat down. The Lakers jumped out to an early leading posting 35 points in the opening quarter. They essentially beat the Suns at their gown game getting the ball quickly up the court and running as much as possible.
But the Suns, led by Steve Nash (13 points, 13 assists) hung with Los Angeles in the first half, heading to the locker room trialing by just seven points, 62-55. Then as the third quarter begin, this NBA betting odds matchup ended. Kobe Bryant went nuts in the third quarter and ended this NBA betting contest by scoring 21 points in the third frame and putting this basketball betting game out of reach.
Bryant ended with 40 points on the night (13-23 shooting) and single-handed assured his team of the Game 2 NBA playoff betting victory. Bryant had plenty of help along the way getting 21 points from Pao Gasol on an outstanding 10-13 shooting performance. Lamar Odem also dropped in 19 points to go with 19 rebounds in what might have been the greatest NBA playoff betting game of his career.
When the Lakers play that well and Kobe gets on fire there is no team in the NBA betting odds action that can beat them. They are the basketball betting champions of the world for a reason and if they can string together a few more performances like the one on Monday night they will be NBA betting champions once again this year. But the Suns are a dangerous opponent and far from finished in the NBA playoff betting action.
On a night when the Lakers had their best NBA post season betting performance the Suns had one of their worst. Consider that the best 3-point shooting team in the NBA betting shot just 5-22 from behind the arc. Phoenix is still in good shape and needs only to win one of two games on the road in LA to take control of this basketball betting series. Look for a much better performance and in Game 2 when the Lakers should come back to earth a bit after a near perfect Game 1.
