Eighth-ranked Tennessee will head out on the road for their first SEC away game on Tuesday as they face the Crimson Tide of Alabama in a college basketball betting game that can be seen on ESPN. The Volunteers have played extremely well this season even without four players who were suspended. Tyler Smith was kicked off the team but two of the other three have been reinstated. Tennessee will have guards Melvin Goins and Cameron Tatum available on Tuesday.
Tennessee is a – 2 point favorite at SBG Global with a total of 139.5.
The Volunteers have played well even though they have been shorthanded. Tennessee has won six straight to get to 14-2 overall and 2-0 in the SEC Conference. Now they should have even more support with Goins and Tatum coming off the bench. “The rotations won’t change right away, but it will be great to have them there.” head coach Bruce Pearl said. Tennessee defeated Kansas, Auburn and Mississippi in their last three games, the last win coming in overtime on Saturday against the Rebels. Center Wayne Chism had 26 points and 12 rebounds in the 71-69 win over Mississippi.
The question now becomes how Tennessee will do on the road. They face an Alabama team that has lost two straight including 71-59 to Arkansas on Saturday. “Over the course of the game, I thought (Arkansas’) toughness and character really showed itself,” head coach Anthony Grant said, “We did not meet the challenge the way we needed to meet the challenge collectively and individually.”
The last time Tennessee traveled to Alabama was two years ago and they came away with a 93-86 win. The Volunteers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Crimson Tide are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games.
The Volunteers are 1-6 ATS in the last 7 meetings at Alabama.
Ten of the last 13 Tennessee games vs. SEC teams have gone under the total. The Under is 21-7 in the Volunteers last 28 college basketball betting overall and the Under is 20-7 in the Volunteers last 27 road games. The Under is 5-0 in Alabama’s last 5 overall. The Under is 6-2 in Alabama’s last 8 home games but the over in this series is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings at Alabama.
