The Oklahoma City Thunder have never won a basketball betting playoff game, let alone play in one, until this year. And, as sad as it sounds for Thunder fans, it could be quite some time before this franchise does win an NBA betting playoff game.
The Thunder (50-32) had the misfortune of drawing the #8 seed in the Western Conference NBA basketball betting playoffs. The reward for reaching the basketball betting playoffs for the first time since relocating to Oklahoma was a first round NBA odds showdown with the defending NBA betting champion LA Lakers. Good luck with that.
But in Game 1 the young Thunder played the champs awfully close and if NBA scoring champ Kevin Durant shot just a bit better there might have been a different outcome in the basketball betting.
Expect Durant (30.1 ppg) to have a much better game in Game 2 at the Staples Center. And expect his wingman Michael Westbrook to also have another good game (23 points, 8 assists in Game 1). But as in Game 1 of this sports betting series it won’t be enough to knock off the champs.
The Lakers are simply too good and the Thunder simply lack the scoring necessary to knock off the NBA betting champs. For the Thunder to win this NBA odds matchup, and it’s not impossible, Durant and Westbrook must combine for at least 60+ points. Durant can poor in 40 points on any given night, but defensive specialist Ron Artest has been all over him like body odor and should do another good job on him in Game 2 of the basketball betting.
But even if the Thunder’s top scorers get loose the Lakers still have enough talent to get the NBA playoff betting win. Kobe Bryant is a one man wrecking crew if he gets loose but the real advantage of the Lakers is in the paint.
Andrew Bynum returned from injuries and delivered a stellar performance dropping in 13 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in 30 minutes of NBA betting action. Combine that 7-footer with the Lakers all star center, 7-footer Pau Gasol (19 points, 13 rebounds in Game 1) and throw in a side of 6-11 Lamar Odom off the bench and the Lakers should be able to achieve total domination of the paint and Game 2 victory in the NBA odds betting action.
