Time and time again the Belmont Stakes betting action has proven the most difficult of the Triple Crown betting contests to handicap. There are many reasons for this but in the present age of horseracing odds competition top horses generally run every 5-6 weeks and with just two weeks between each Triple Crown betting events, if the horse isn’t in contention for the Triple Crown after the Kentucky Derby or the Preakness, all the big names pull tend to pull out of the Belmont Odds competition.
The Belmont Stakes betting is challenging no doubt, but that also means there’s a lot more chances to win big against the Belmont odds as well as there are many relatively unknown horses that many horseracing odds makers are yet to get a handle on.
There are couple horses in particular that you may want to keep an eye as the Belmont Stakes betting action approaches. One horse that seems to have caught the attention of many horse betting aficionados is the colt Drosselmeyer. Drosselmeyer has placed in both of his last two graded stakes races and seems to have the conditioning and makeup to tear it up on a 12-furlong course. He’s been ridden almost exclusively this horse racing odds season by Belmont Stakes winning jockey Kent Desormeaux but that won’t be the case on June 5th, 2010 when jockey Mike Smith will take over. You have to like Drosselmeyer’s chances better with Desormeuax but at 1 ½ miles a good horse will find a way to win.
Another horse that has gotten some attention of late in the sports betting world is First Dude. First Dude may be one of the most recognizable horses in the Belmont Stakes odds but opinions vary widely as to how this horse will perform. Many horseracing odds experts will point to the fact that the horse’s lifetime record is hardly stellar. In seven lifetime starts First Dude has just one horseracing odds victory. Some will also point to the fact that likely rivals in the Belmont Stakes betting action like Fly Down, Ice Box and Stately Victor have all already beaten him this year.
However, these losses have all been on shorter tracks and First Dude is thought to have a tremendous capacity at the longer distances. This should make for some very interesting Belmont Stakes betting action next Saturday.
